# Account and organisation

Explains how to create and log in to your SCL account, change your password, profile, theme and language settings, and invite and manage organisation members.

In SCL, every user has a personal account that they log in to with their email address and password. An account is either used on its own or linked to an organisation. This page covers creating an account, logging in, personal settings and how an organisation admin manages members. Account actions (signing up, logging in, invitations, settings changes) do not use credits.

## Personal accounts and organisations

An organisation is a company account that shares a common pool of credits. The SCL team sets up the organisation and its admin. The admin invites colleagues to the organisation by email.

| Topic | Personal account | Organisation membership |
|---|---|---|
| Credits | The account's own balance | The organisation's shared balance; all members spend from the same pool |
| Adding credits | **Settings** › **Credits & Usage** › **Buy Credits** | The SCL team tops up the organisation's credits |
| How it is created | The SCL team, early access or **Sign up** | The admin's invitation or the SCL team |

You can only be a member of one organisation at a time. If you are an organisation member, the **Organization Member** banner and your organisation's name appear above the **First Name** field on the **Settings** › **Profile Settings** page. How credits are spent is explained on the [Credits](/en/docs/account/credits) page.

## Creating an account

SCL accounts are usually created by the SCL team. If you don't have an account, apply on the [early access](/en/early-access) page. If the SCL team created your account and you don't know your password, set a new one with the **Forgot password?** link on the login screen.

### With the Sign up link

If you see **Don't have an account?** and a **Sign up** link at the bottom of the login screen, you can create your own account. If the link does not appear, you cannot sign up yourself.

1. On the login screen, click **Sign up**. The **Create an account** page opens.
2. Fill in the **First Name**, **Last Name**, **Email**, **Password** and **Confirm Password** fields. Type your email address entirely in lowercase.
3. Tick the **I agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy** box. The **Create account** button stays disabled until the box is ticked.
4. Click **Create account**. Your account is created and the **Email Verification** screen opens.

An account created this way is a personal account.

### With an organisation invitation

When your organisation admin invites you, you receive an email with the subject **Organizasyona Davetlisiniz** (You're invited to an organisation). The email says who invited you and to which organisation. To accept the invitation, click the **Daveti Kabul Et** (Accept Invitation) button in the email.

The invitation link is valid for 7 days from the moment the invitation was first sent. If the link does not open or you cannot create your account, contact your organisation admin or the SCL team.

## Verifying your email address

The **Email Verification** screen opens when you create your account or log in with an unverified account. Until you verify your address, you can only open the **Settings** pages; other pages redirect you to this screen.

1. Find the email with the subject **SCL’e hoş geldin...** (Welcome to SCL...) in your inbox. If you can't see it, check your spam folder too.
2. Click the **E-postamı doğrula** (Verify my email) button in the email. The link is valid for 60 minutes.
3. The **Email verified** screen opens. For your security, you are logged out and redirected to the login screen within a few seconds.
4. Log in again with your email address and password.

If the email has not arrived, click **Resend email** on the **Email Verification** screen. After each send, you have to wait 60 seconds before you can use the button again.

## Logging in

1. On the **Sign in to your account** screen, fill in the **Email** and **Password** fields.
2. If you want to stay logged in after you close the browser, tick **Remember me for 1 week**.
3. Click **LOGIN**.

After logging in, you are taken to the page you were trying to open. If there is no such page, the home page (**Choose a vertical**) opens. If your details are wrong, the warning **These credentials do not match our records.** appears. After 5 failed attempts in a row with the same email address, logging in is temporarily locked; wait for the time given in the warning and try again.

## If you forgot your password

1. On the login screen, click the **Forgot password?** link.
2. On the **Forgot Password** screen, enter your address in the **Email** field and click **Continue**. The **Email sent** message appears.
3. In the email with the subject **Şifreni sıfırla** (Reset your password), click the **Yeni şifre belirle** (Set a new password) button. The link is valid for 60 minutes.
4. On the **Reset Password** screen, type your new password in the **Password** and **Confirm Password** fields and click **Reset Password**.
5. The **Password updated** screen opens. Log in with your new password.

The **No user found with this email address.** warning means there is no SCL account for the address you entered; try the address you used when your account was created. You can request a new reset link at most once every 60 seconds.

## Personal settings

Click your name in the top-right corner to open the user menu and choose **Settings**. The **Settings Menu** on the left contains **Profile Settings**, **Notification Settings**, **Security Settings**, **Credits & Usage**, **Billing Settings**, **Appearance Settings** and, for admins only, **Organization Management**. **Credits & Usage** and **Billing Settings** are covered on the [Credits](/en/docs/account/credits) and [Buying credits and billing](/en/docs/account/buying-credits) pages.

### Profile details

In **Profile Settings**, change the **First Name**, **Last Name** and **Email** fields and click **Apply Changes**. The button is only enabled once you have changed a field. When the change is saved, the message **Your profile has been updated successfully** appears.

If you change your email address, you need to verify the new address. When you open a page outside Settings, the **Email Verification** screen opens; use **Resend email** to request a verification link at your new address. The new address must be in lowercase and must not be in use by another account.

### Changing your password

1. Open **Security Settings**.
2. In the **Change password** section, fill in the **Current Password**, **New Password** and **Confirm New Password** fields.
3. Click **Apply Changes**. The message **Your password has been updated successfully** appears.

As you type the new password, a strength indicator rates it from **Weak Password** to **Very Strong Password**. The rules below are the same on the sign-up, password reset and password change screens.

| Rule | Details |
|---|---|
| Length | At least 8 and at most 20 characters |
| Uppercase letter | At least one uppercase letter (A–Z). Ç, Ğ, İ, Ö, Ş and Ü do not meet this rule. |
| Confirmation field | Must match the password exactly |
| Number | Not required; the **At least 1 number** item in the strength indicator is a suggestion |

### Appearance and language

- **Theme.** In **Appearance Settings**, choose **Light**, **Dark**, **Dark Classic** or **System**. **System** follows your operating system's light or dark setting. Your choice applies immediately and is saved to your account, so it also applies on other devices. The default theme for new accounts is **Dark**.
- **Language.** From the user menu, choose **Language**, then **Türkçe** or **English**. On the login and sign-up screens, use the **TR** and **EN** buttons in the top-right corner. Your language choice is saved in this browser, not to your account; on another device the interface opens in Turkish.
- **Emails.** Account emails (verification, password reset, invitation) are sent in Turkish regardless of the interface language.

### Notifications

**Notification Settings** has two toggles: **Product updates and new features** and **News and Updates**. Your preference is saved as soon as you change a toggle. These toggles only cover product announcements; verification, password reset and invitation emails are not affected by this setting.

### Logging out

Click **Log Out** in the user menu or at the bottom of the **Settings Menu**.

## Organisation management

This section is for organisation admins. Only the admin sees the **Organization Management** page. Open it via **Settings** › **Organization Management**, or click **Manage** on the **Organization Member** banner in **Profile Settings**. The card at the top of the page shows the organisation's name and number of members.

### Roles and permissions

Each organisation has a single **Admin**; everyone else is a **Member**.

| Permission | Admin | Member |
|---|---|---|
| Run studies with the organisation's shared credits | Yes | Yes |
| See their own studies, surveys and populations | Yes | Yes |
| See the studies, surveys and populations of everyone in the organisation | Yes | No |
| Open the **Organization Management** page | Yes | No |
| Invite members, and resend or cancel invitations | Yes | No |
| Remove a member from the organisation | Yes | No |
| See the credits each member has spent | Yes | No |

To change the admin or add credits to the organisation, contact the SCL team.

### Inviting members

1. In **Organization Management**, click **Invite User** next to the organisation's name.
2. In the dialog that opens, enter your colleague's address in the **Email Address** field.
3. Click **Send Invite**. The dialog closes, the invitation email is sent and the invitation appears in the **Pending Invitations** table.

You can only send an invitation to an address that does not have an SCL account yet. If the dialog does not close, the invitation has not been sent: most likely the address already belongs to an SCL account, or there is already a pending invitation for that address. To add a colleague who has created their own account to the organisation, contact the SCL team.

### Managing pending invitations

The **Pending Invitations** table only appears while an invitation is waiting to be accepted. It has the columns **Email Address**, **Invited By**, **Status** (**Pending**) and **Actions**.

- To resend an invitation, click the circular arrow icon. You can resend an invitation once an hour; until then, the row shows **Can resend in:** and the time remaining.
- To cancel an invitation, click the bin icon and confirm **Are you sure you want to cancel this invitation?**
- An accepted invitation disappears from the table and the person is added to the **Members** table. Expired invitations also disappear from the table.

> [!TIP]
> Resending an invitation does not extend its 7-day validity. If it is about to expire, cancel the invitation and send a new one to the same address.

### Members table and removing a member

The **Members** table shows each member's name and **Email Address**; the **Role** column shows **Admin** or **Member**. Members who have spent credits have a **Credits spent** badge under their name, showing the total credits they have spent.

1. In the row of the member you want to remove, click the user icon with a cross in the **Actions** column.
2. Confirm **Are you sure you want to remove this user from the organization?**

The admin's row does not have this icon; the admin cannot be removed from the organisation. The removed person's SCL account is not deleted, but they can no longer use the organisation's credits or see the studies, surveys and populations they created while in the organisation. These stay in the organisation, and the admin can still see them.

> [!WARNING]
> You cannot add a person you have removed back with **Invite User**, because their address now belongs to an SCL account. To add back a member you removed by mistake, contact the SCL team.

### Leaving an organisation

There is no button that lets members leave an organisation on their own. If you want to leave, ask your admin to remove you in **Organization Management**. If you are the admin, first ask the SCL team to assign a new admin.

## Common situations

| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| The verification or password reset email has not arrived | Check your spam folder. Request a new link with **Resend email** for verification, or with **Forgot Password** for a password reset. |
| The link in the email opens the **No entry for this robot** page | The link has expired. The verification link is valid for 60 minutes and the invitation link for 7 days. For verification, request a new link with **Resend email**; for an invitation, ask your admin to send you a new one. |
| The **This password reset token is invalid.** warning when resetting your password | The reset link's 60-minute validity has run out, or the link has already been used. Request a new link with **Forgot Password**. |
| The **The email field must be lowercase.** warning when signing up | Type the address entirely in lowercase. |
| The **The email has already been taken.** warning when signing up | An account already exists for this address. Log in or reset your password. |
| No **Buy Credits** button on the **Credits & Usage** page | Organisation members' credits are managed at organisation level. For more credits, talk to your admin or the SCL team. |
